Only color photograph that exists of "La Taberna India." The show, created by Ramón Rivero, was the first comedy/variety TV show in Puerto Rico.

It was also on the air from 1954 to 1968, making it the longest running prime-time TV show in the history of local television.

After Ramón Rivero's death in 1956, many artists tried in vain to imitate him, by using "black face."

Today, almost 50 years later, one can still witness Ramón Rivero's influence on local television, when shows are based in "tabernas."

The picture on the right is a section of a spread in the Sunday Mirror, the 12th of June, 1955, which detailed the highest rating TV show in the history of Puerto Rico with an incredible 72% share of the viewing audience.
